The third local Stakeholder Meeting of the Interreg Europe MINEV project “Waste Minimization in Large Events” was held online on Tuesday 9 July 2024, organised by the Metropolitan City of Bologna.
The meeting, ‘Bologna Summer: An Event Without Waste. Tips and good practices to reduce waste', was attended by the main institutions of the Metropolitan Area, the event planners within Bologna Estate, including Yoda APS, Unione Reno Galliera, Associazione IN MEZZO SCORRE IL FIUME, the Municipality of Pianoro, Ozono Factory A.p.s., the Union of Municipalities of the Bolognese Apennines, the Municipality of Imola and Imola Musei, who expressed and renovated their common interest in sustainability as a central theme in the organisation and implementation of events.
The meeting acted as a moment of understanding of the needs of those involved in the organisation of events. During the meeting the need to increase information emerged and helping organising bodies to think of themselves as sustainable by providing them with the necessary tools.
The meeting was chaired by Paolo Azzurro, an expert in environmental issues, who illustrated some of the main guidelines and good practices for creating a sustainable event, including issues related to implementation costs, providing those who already have previous experience with additional elements to further innovate in their actions and proposals, and at the same time introducing these good practices to those approaching them for the first time through a series of basic knowledge, fundamental for organising events in a more sustainable way.
