On November 19th and 20th, the Steering Committee meeting of the Cool Noons project was held online. The project focuses on sustainable tourism within the Interreg Euro-MED regional cooperation program.
The meeting brought together pilot cities and technical partners who provide scientific support for the development of solutions to address heat waves within cities that are subjected to tourism.
The first day was dedicated to discuss the analytical framework to develop these solutions. This includes data collection, focused on the experiences of citizens and tourists visiting the cities, as well as monitoring and testing the solutions. The need for a unified approach that simultaneously highlights the unique characteristics of each pilot city was emphasized, in order to develop intervention hypotheses that align with the real needs of the population and of the urban context.
The second day focused on the social value of interventions. In addition to the economic benefits generated by territorial development, implementing sustainable solutions means promoting social well-being and community cohesion.
The Metropolitan City of Bologna is currently working to improve the physical and social well-being of the population living in and passing through the historic center of Imola, an area with high levels of tourism and cultural activities.
