Amigos project Workshop

Amigos project Workshop

On Thursday, October 10, and Thursday, October 24, workshops were held as part of the European AMIGOS project, a component of the Horizon Europe Program.

AMIGOS is a project aimed at co-creating, testing and developing innovative solutions for urban mobility that are inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable, designed for European cities and beyond. The goal of the Metropolitan City of Bologna is to implement information systems that enable users with disabilities to independently select services related to hiking trails in the Bologna Apennines area.

To this end, the workshops were held in collaboration with the Silvia Parente Foundation for Sport, which promotes sports as a means of social inclusion. Together with members of the Foundation, a co-design process was conducted in which individuals directly affected by mobility challenges identified key issues and proposed potential solutions.

A need emerged for a “single container” of information on the accessibility of hiking trails in the Bologna Apennines, to be addressed through the development of the Outdoor 365 website. This site, already innovative in cataloging trails based on levels of skill without binding them exclusively to types of disability, can further raise inclusivity standards through the creation of new content and the development of new inclusive trails for all users. This aims to foster new community networks and achieve the highest levels of accessibility in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
