The drafting of the new Provincial Trade Plan offered the Province of Bologna the opportunity to promote sustainability policies also for the commercial distribution structures and network.
Indeed, the commercial structures determine significant environmental impacts, especially as regards the generation of traffic (both of people and goods), the production of waste and the consumption of resources and energy.
Compared to the current condition, it is possible to achieve significant improvements and substantial savings, both in environmental and economic terms. There are already many initiatives promoted and implemented voluntarily by the world of commerce, from large to small distribution; these initiatives show an important and proactive commitment to the diffusion of technologies, practices and products with reduced environmental impact.
The ACEA Guidelines are mainly created with the aim of giving an overall and clear framework including the various possible actions, and aligning the different spheres of action and scales of intervention.
