Irlandese, nasce intorno al 1710 (o 1705) a Dangan, nella contea di Kilkenny.

Pittrice di miniature, specialista nel genere del paesaggio, è attiva a Dublino nella prima metà del XVIII secolo.

Dipinge paesaggi della campagna irlandese.

Nel 1743 si reca a Londra: in Inghilterra dipinge vedute di Londra, Bath e Bristol.

A partire dal 1731 stringe amicizia, e forse un rapporto di collaborazione, con la pittrice Mary Delany. Per il vescovo Robert Clayton, amico della Delany, esegue disegni dall’antico.

Muore a Dublino nel 1757 e qui è sepolta il 17 novembre 1757.

Nel 1861 Joseph Brown incide il suo Autoritratto (Dublino, National Gallery of Ireland).
